The shelter has been serving our community since 1985 by taking in stay and owner-surrendered animals with the goal of placing them in permanent, caring homes. We also strive to improve the relationships between people and animals. We do this by educating the public about responsible pet ownership, reducing the number of unwanted pets and matching potential adopters with pets suitable for their lifestyles. We take in all pets, not just cats and dogs. Last year alone we took in over 1,000 animals and we placed 94% of them in loving homes. We have no length of stay requirements. We rely on the communities we serve to help us with the costs and receive no funding from national organizations or governmental agencies. At the Stafford Animal Shelter, We can be there for the animals in our community because you are there for us!
