To the people of Park County,
My name is Luke Jergenson and I am running for county commissioner.
I enjoy meeting people and would like the opportunity to hear from the citizens of Park County on the issues we are facing. I don’t pretend to have all the answers. In our divisive political world, I want to hear input from all sides, not just those who may agree with or support me. I won’t campaign on promises I can’t keep, but I do promise to listen and treat everyone with respect.
I was raised on a mink farm in Minnesota that my grandfather started after he served in WWII. It was on that farm, working alongside my dad and grandfather every day, that I learned the value of hard work as well as the love of God, family and country. When I later attended college in the twin cities, I met Rachel Durgan. I was lucky enough to marry into the Durgan family, originally of Paradise Valley. Harlan Durgan is my father-in-law and was a pastor in Livingston for over forty years. My brother-in-law, Shad Durgan, has since become the Senior Pastor at Living Hope Church. Daniel Durgan, my other brother-in-law, owns Riverside Hardware. They are all excellent men and proud members of the Livingston community. My wife, Dr. Rachel Jergenson, is a clinical psychologist with a private practice downtown. Her family has generational roots here in Park County which is why we decided to move here thirteen years ago to raise our three children. Since moving to Montana, I have carried on my family’s tradition as a third-generation mink farmer, a proud chapter of life I recently decided to discontinue.
Park County is a community of people who wholeheartedly support one another. Thank you for giving me the opportunity to serve you and your families through coaching over twenty baseball and basketball teams and by teaching Sunday School for over ten years. I have served on our church leadership board for over a decade and on the Pine Creek School Board for the past eight years. I would like the opportunity to serve the people of Park County as commissioner for the next four years.
