Sound Healing Concert
with Barbara Woodbury
Sound Healing Concert would start with a brief intro to the bowls, then instructions to lay down, or sit comfortably, relax, close eyes……and quietly listen. Then Barbara would play Himalayan singing bowls for about 45 minutes.
Barbara has followed a long and winding road to where she is today. She grew up in the Chicago suburbs of Illinois. Born with a restless spirit, she moved to Montana in 1981 with her five year old son, and a few dollars in her pocket. After raising her son, she went back to finish her college education at MSU earning a BS in Microbiology with a minor in Religious Studies in 2001. She then worked as a county sanitarian in Gallatin, Sanders, then Park & Sweet Grass Counties.
Eventually she earned a Masters in Public Health, and worked for 14 1/2 years for local government. While she believed in the mission of everyone having clean water to drink and safe sewage disposal, the culture of bureaucracy was soul sucking for her. So, at 58 1/2 she retired early from the county and opened the Windy Way Rock Shop in Livingston, MT with her husband, Merlin DeShaw, a master lapidary, in 2016. In 2018, she met Suren Shrestha, founder of Atma Buti School of Sound and Vibrational Healing and was moved to explore the healing power of the singing bowls. She is currently a Level 1 student, and is planning on completing Levels 2 and 3 in 2020. She has four grandchildren who are the lights of her life.
