  • Yellowstone 150th Anniversary »

“The beer was very cold and wonderful to drink. The pommes à l’huile were firm and marinated and the
olive oil delicious. I ground black pepper over the potatoes and moistened the bread in the olive oil. After the
first heavy draft of beer I drank and ate slowly.” Hemingway, A Moveable Feast
“It is a hell to start anything in the country, but the very best place to work once it is started.” Hemingway to
Owen Wister. 1/30/32 (about writing in the West)
“Work, shoot, and fish in Montana and Wyo. Damned fine country . . . Hemingway to George Albee. 11/13/32
Greetings from the Hemingway Society! The XIX International Hemingway Society Conference convenes
from July 17 to 23rd in Wyoming and Montana. Some 300 Hemingway scholars, aficionados and
attendees will seek to live the spirit of Hemingway as expressed in the quotations
We come from many states and nations and we need your help during our brief stay, to find and
experience the best Montana and Wyoming has to offer. Your ad in our program will guide us to that
experience.
• Where should we dine and drink? Casual and fine dining alike.
• Where should we lodge? Extended stays.
• Where can we find hiking/fishing guides, outback adventures
• Where should we shop? Souvenirs, clothes, outdoor gear, books, food, wine and liquor, etc.
Like Ernest Hemingway himself, members of the Society like to know truly and well the places where
they convene. They care about the cuisine, about places where good drinks can be found, great cheer
enjoyed. They want to visit special sites, to be involved in events that give character to a place, to
engage in the music, the art, the culture around them.
Some will arrive early. Some will stay late. Encourage them to visit your establishment. Place an ad. It
will be available to Conference in early June as they plan their visit to our area.
To place your ad go to www.hemingwaysociety.org/ads Pricing listed there.
Sincerely,
Larry Grimes, Ph.D .Conference Director larry.grimes@hemingwaysociety.org
