Hello Adult Education community!
We have several exciting April classes lined up for you with more fun
brewing in May and June. The good news is online classes are still free
of charge courtesy of Livingston School Districts 4&1. More good news--
three fun in-person classes begin soon following Covid precautions such
as meeting in small groups outdoors or in well-ventilated locations.

Microsoft Word: Beginner to Intermediate (free & online)
4 Wednesdays, March 24-April 14,⋅6:00 – 8:00pm
Word is how the business and professional worlds communicate. In this
class, learn to use your version of Word to create professionally
formatted and richly illustrated documents. The class will cover all the
beginning-to-intermediate Word skill sets, including letterheads,
newsletters and brochures, typesetting your own booklet or an entire
book for printing, mail-merge and much more.
Bring your challenging projects to class and we’ll show you how they’re
done. Basic computer experience and typing skills are recommended.
Taught by Denis Ouellette, author, publishing consultant, editor, and
Beginning Drawing (free & online)
3 Mondays, April 5-19, 6-8:00 pm
Drawing is a fun and useful skill used in art, work, and life. With some
desire and persistence you can learn to draw well! This class--free and
online via Zoom--is a good starting point for students of all abilities.
Learn to see and to draw what you see. Materials are available locally;
a list will be provided.
Instructor Bonnie Clement uses a second camera to allow participants to
see her work and has taught two popular classes via Zoom already this

Seated Pilates, Posture, and Light Stretching (free non-ACE class)
Wednesdays 10-10:30am, ongoing
Enjoy a free online workout designed especially for those with limited
balance or mobility.
--Lengthen your muscles

--Work with your breath in new ways
--Feel rejuvenated after the workout

Lawnmower Tune-up ($10)
Tuesday, April 13, 5:30 – 7:00pm
Learn the tricks to completing this yearly tune-up chore and make
starting and running your mower easier and safer!
The class includes basic care with plenty of time for Q&A:
--Changing the oil
--Sizing and changing the spark plug
--Changing/cleaning the air filter
--Checking the blade

Leathercraft: Make a Belt! ($35 includes supplies)
Tuesday April 20, 2-5 pm
Three people will have an opportunity to work with master leather
craftsman Brian Pickering for an afternoon in his shop to sculpt their
own handmade belt. Learn the basics using professional tools, and take
home a beautiful belt in black or brown!
Taught by Brian Pickering, owner and craftsman of high quality, handmade
leather goods at St. Johns Supply in Livingston. Register with Rita,

Tree Care & Planting ($10)
Wednesday, April 21,⋅5:30 – 7:00pm
Celebrate Earth Week with ACE!
Meet with Livingston Tree Board member and experienced arborist Andy
Mitchell to learn tree care and tree planting techniques and help
replenish our urban forest! Whether planning to plant trees on private
land or on our city's boulevards, brush up your skills to assist with
tree health and survival.
This outdoor class will include hands-on experience in the preferred way
to install and care for saplings and is your opportunity to have
questions answered by a local tree specialist.
