My name is Martha Miller and I am running for re-election as Park County Auditor. I have lived and worked in Park County for 39 years. I have been married to my husband Mike for 32 years and our children were born and raised here. Mike and I owned and operated a successful construction business in Park County for over 25 years and I have been in supervisory and financial management positions most of my working career in Park County.

I am the first elected Auditor for Park County and have served in that capacity for 8 years and I am proud of my accomplishments as Auditor. I have worked to resolve a number of significant audit findings and Park County now has balancing procedures in place for taxes receivable, taxes paid in protest and Treasurer's cash, key areas relating to the accuracy of Park County's financial reports. Reports used by the Commissioners and department heads to make financial decisions; the same information available to the public.

I work closely with Treasurer to keep tax billing and payment information in agreement with accounting records and monitor tax adjustments generated by the Dept of Revenue.

I prepare investment trust account reconciliations for the Clerk of District Court and I work with both District and Justice Court to monitor money held in trust. The sheriff's department and detention center also hold money in trust for Park County citizens and I prepare reports on these trust accounts for the Commissioners.

Another of my duties is approving all claims presented to the County for payment. I have promoted streamlining the claims process to improve efficiency while reducing excessive and redundant paperwork, allowing department heads to focus on the essential duties of their department.

I volunteered and was appointed by the Commission to manage Angel Line Senior and Disabled Transportation and I assist the Park County Senior Center with annual grant compliance and HUD tenant recertification for the Center's low income senior housing.

Working together toward a common goals and promoting a culture of teamwork is important for Park County, important to me as Auditor, and important for efficiency in local government.

Helping departments, answering questions and offering assistance whenever possible has been a focal point for me. Fiscal responsibility is fostered through knowledge and promotes accountability and transparency; empowering department heads and elected officials to make informed financial decisions.

I have invested myself in the position and taken on many duties and responsibilities. I look forward to another term as Auditor, to finish long term goals and projects. Building trust in local government through accountability, fiscal integrity and transparency and continuing to serve the citizens of Park County as Auditor.

I would sincerely appreciate your support in the upcoming election. Thank you!
