Festival of the Thread

In conjunction with the “Last Best Fest”, Livingston's Shane Lalani Center for the Arts will host the first annual “Festival of the Thread”, an exhibition of textile art takes place September 5 through 7 in the Shane Lalani Center for the Arts Ball Room. Featured works in fiber include: quilts, mixed media textile art, weaving, batik, knitting, clothing and furniture.All the artists represented in “The Festival of the Thread” have been recognized for mastery of their craft and bring a diversity of styles and mediums to this unique exhibit.Exhibit hours are: Friday September 5, 4 to 9 p.m., Saturday September 6, 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. and Sunday September 7, 10 a.m. to noon. An artists’ reception on Friday hosted by Faye’s Café will take place from 4-6 p.m. prior to a performance of “Romeo and Juliet” by Montana Shakespeare in the Parks. Romeo and Juliet will be performed in the west parking lot of the Shane Center and in the event of inclement weather, the production will move indoors to the Dulcie Theatre. Curtain is 6:00 pm. Saturday’s classes will be held in the Shane Center classroom on the second floor. Saturday September 6, “Fabric Painting with a Twist” by Carla Pyle 10 a.m. to noon; “Color Your Quilt” with Monique Kleinhans 1to 3 p.m. Be sure to stop by Peggy Paugh Leuzinger’s studio on the main floor between 12-1 on Saturday for a hands on weaving demonstration.
